This Tuesday 24th July at Material…

Jameson Irish Whiskey is back with its second chapter of “Whiskey & Words
” – a series of intimate events that bring cult writers together with musicians and cocktails for a night of literature, Irish Whiskey & culture. This month’ cult authors, Joe Dunthorne and Jake Arnott will introduce their latest novels to a select audience at the bookshop Material in Shoreditch. The unique soundtrack will be provided by the hotly anticipated violinist and singer song writer Marques Toliver.

The ‘Whiskey & Words’ platform offers guests a truly unique opportunity to meet and discuss literature with some of their favourite authors. The evening will feature…

Joe Dunthorne

Acclaimed author of award winning “Submarine”, a book which was recently adapted into a, now cult, indie film. His poetry has been published by many acclaimed journals, including Poetry Review, New Welsh Review and Voice Recognition. He also co-organises Homework, a monthly night of literary miscellany. Joe will be reading from his latest book, “Wild Abandon”.

Jake Arnott

His bestselling debut novel, “The Long Firm”, was published in 1999 and has been followed by “He Kills Cooper”, “Truecrime”, “Johnny Come Home” and “The Devil’s Paintbrush”. Both “The Long Firm” and “He Kills Cooper” have been made into widely praised TV dramas. Jake Arnott’s “House of Rumour” has just been released and is already tipped to become a future classic.

Marques Toliver

Fans of Bat for Lashes, Grizzly Bear, Miles Benjamin, or Holly Miranda will recognise him as he has played with all of them. “A star on the rise” according to press, Marques Toliver went from busking in Williamsburg to playing on Jools Holland’s show. His music and voice are truly unique and combines classical arrangements with elements of modern RnB and he will be performing on the night.

Hosted by poet and performer Ross Sutherland. The ‘Whiskey & Words’ sessions will be open to public with seats attributed on a first come, first served basis by emailing whiskeyandwords@teaandcakepr.com. Places are limited.
