Atlas of Anatomy, is one of the most comprehensive and wonderfully illustrated anatomical works ever published. The masterpiece was started in 1830 by Jean Baptiste Marc Bourgery (1797–1849) , aided by illustrator Nicolas Henri Jacob (1782–1871). Published across 8 volumes, the body of work took two decades and although Bourgery saw his sensational work through to the end, the final volumes were not published until 5 years after his death.
Ranging across descriptive anatomy, surgical anatomy and techniques, general anatomy and embryology as well microscopic anatomy, the hand-coloured lithographs bring Bourgery's research to life. Atlas of Anatomy offers a fascinating anatomical understanding, not only for medical professionals and students, but for artists, fans of the human body and the ever curious.
